Tussie Mussie, a solo exhibition by artist and director of Hello Studio Amada Miller, aims to translate the subversive use of Floriography by exploring the changing role of female artists throughout history. Floriography developed in the 19th century as a secret language of coded emotion. Armed with illustrative floral dictionaries rooted in cultural symbolism, women and men exchanged bouquets of undertone and meaning. Female authors of the time claimed this secret language and created a liberating movement that flourished expression for feminist possibilities, art and culture.
By incorporating flowers in her media, Miller presents a study that continues to discuss feminine qualities through the evolving use of the language of flowers.
