GET Involved San Antonio!

Growing Empowered Together (GET) invites you to this special collaborative effort in celebration of DreamWeek San Antonio. Several different galleries and progressive organizations are joining forces at this Second Saturday Art Walk in the Lone Star Arts District to show support for progressive ideals. This is our time. GET Inspired. GET Registered to Vote. GET Involved. Join us!

“GET Involved” will be held at the FLAX Studios from 7pm -10pm, where we’ll screen some of our short films of young progressive community leaders, musicians, and poets as they share their passion for community with you. We’ll introduce you to some of the coolest community organizations in town and, hell yeah (!), we’re going to register you to vote too. Come meet young leaders from different progressive nonprofits in town who will inspire you with tales of the amazing community service work they do with:

Younger Women’s Task Force (YWTF): A movement by and for younger women to fight for social justice.
🙂
The Blah Poetry Spot: Organization that collaborates, develops, and promotes the literary endeavors of the San Antonio community.
🙂
NOWCast San Antonio: Neighborhood-focused, public service journalists with a much-needed “Crap Detection Toolkit” to share with you!
🙂
The Lilith Fund: Advocating and funding for abortion access.
🙂
MOVE San Antonio: a grassroots progressive effort to ensure youth voices are heard and considered in the policy-making process. Yay – They’ll register you to vote!
🙂
SA RISE: Building a base of power to fight for educational equity in San Antonio
🙂
Growing Empowered Together (GET): We engage the activist and arts communities to inspire young Texans to vote and volunteer in Texas.

⇒ Hey – spoiler alert – IF we inspire you (and, we WILL!), then you can sign up to volunteer or march with us soon. All are welcome!

Look on the GET Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GETTexas/) for more information about the other cool DreamWeek events you’ll see at this special Second Saturday event, such as the “Nasty Women Art Exhibition” by one of our awesome co-hosts, the AP Art Lab. [Hey, while you’re on our GET FB page, please give us a “like” too.]
