Publicly uploaded photos have the power to elevate teenage girls to cult leader status and threaten to live forever online as future blackmail fodder. Snapchat attempts to simulate the carefree and often naughty opportunities the Polaroid camera enabled during the Kodak Age. The popular messaging application claims “Snaps” (10 second cell phone photos and videos) vanish from the company’s servers seconds after being viewed. Kelsi Sharp has collected hundreds of cell phone screenshots over the past year and a half and will be sharing a selection of 150, from cat photos to racy selfies in FL!GHT’s salon room. Here, they’ve been immortalized as smartphone screen-sized archival prints, and looped in a video projection. The exhibit is up December 19th through December 26th, 2015.
