Woven is an exhibition showcasing Scott Hilton and Nicole Pietrantoni, whose works exhibit the relationship between humans and nature.

Hilton manipulates books and other materials by creating unique photographs through the process of Wet Plate Collodion, creating images whose surface express Hilton’s interests in both text and texture.

“Both of these words, text and texture, share a common Latin root, texto, which means to weave…Meanings are woven from words just as lived experience is interlaced with bodily feeling.”

Nicole Pietrantoni’s work Havened, displays nine accordion books with a panorama of nature and a text overlay, showing that “while nature may be positioned as a neutral space, it is, in reality, a site of competing stories and representations.”
